The weather was kind to us on Saturday. After a weather forecast threatening rain showers for much of the day, we didn’t see a drop.
We got set up nice and early, from about ten o’clock onwards, and people started coming by around noon, which was the official opening time of the event.
The Outdoor Gym and the additional new equipment in the Children’s Playground was provided with a grant of just over £107,000 which was applied for by Avenue Park Friends. The Gym equipment has QR codes on each piece of apparatus, so users can keep track of their own personal use, and set their own goals.
Hounslow Council’s Outreach Van was here to help people with basic health assessments. Visitors could get their height and weight taken, and find out their BMI. There was also a table with plenty of health-related leaflets covering many concerns that residents may have.
A good number of visitors took part, and there were also stalls set up by Cranford Action Group, and Let’s Go Outside & Learn and The Outdoor Gym folks too.
There are plans afoot to improve the park further. Also for further events during this year. Watch this space.
