Outdoor Gym and Playground Reopening

The weather was kind to us on Saturday. After a weather forecast threatening rain showers for much of the day, we didn’t see a drop.

We got set up nice and early, from about ten o’clock onwards, and people started coming by around noon, which was the official opening time of the event.

The Outdoor Gym

The Outdoor Gym and the additional new equipment in the Children’s Playground was provided with a grant of just over £107,000 which was applied for by Avenue Park Friends. The Gym equipment has QR codes on each piece of apparatus, so users can keep track of their own personal use, and set their own goals.

Hounslow Health Outreach Van

Hounslow Council’s Outreach Van was here to help people with basic health assessments. Visitors could get their height and weight taken, and find out their BMI. There was also a table with plenty of health-related leaflets covering many concerns that residents may have.

A good number of visitors took part, and there were also stalls set up by Cranford Action Group, and Let’s Go Outside & Learn and The Outdoor Gym folks too.

There are plans afoot to improve the park further. Also for further events during this year. Watch this space.

Park Equipment Update

If you go into Avenue Park right now (Early March 2024) , you’ll see that the children’s playground area has been temporarily closed.

Work is underway to install new playground equipment.

At the same time, work is also underway to replace the Outdoor Gym. New pathways have been laid to the Gym area which has had a fence erected around it.

If all goes to plan, then both the playground and the gym will be open by late spring.

March Clean Up In Avenue Park

Cranford Action Group (CAG) are having a clean up on Saturday 2nd March. 11 am. They will be venturing out again to clean the back of Avenue Park. There remains extensive litter in the vegetation. Trying to get this cleaned before it all grows back. Many hands will make light work. Meeting at the Park Lane entrance to the park. The Heathrow Rangers will be making headway in the park on Friday 1st March. Their help is invaluable and they will appreciate your assistance. They kick off at 10 am, on the 1st if you’re available.
